Unexpected Delays

As part of being an Internet Service Provider B4OC are dependent on a connection to the national grid, which runs parallel to the railway line south of Piltown. Although B4OC have signed a contract with a supplier to provide gigabit broadband, we are still awaiting approval from Irish Rail to carry out install works near the railway line and until we receive the “green light”, we cannot connect to the national grid.

B4OC met with engineers from Irish Rail, BT & KN Networks in May 2021 to discuss connecting to the broadband backhaul that runs on the south side of the railway. An agreement was reached on how to carry out the works and a proposal was sent to Irish Rail in June but we are still awaiting final approval.

We apologise for the delay but we are hopeful this will be resolved soon so that we can move forward with this project. We appreciate the continuing support and patience of the community. However, despite this setback, work has continued on all other aspects of the project, with much success and with many milestones reached.
